About Page
Welcome to my about page! You'll learn a bit about the webmaster and why they're so obsessed with the CD-i Nintendo games.
There's a free site button if you stick around...!
What's This All About?
Aypo's Library is a website dedicated to housing development facts, tidbits, written articles, texts, images, and more that relate to the Philips CD-i Nintendo titles. I have collected a shipload of these facts over my several years of interest regarding these (over-maligned) titles, and I thought it would be best to house all of them on a single page that anyone can easily access and refer to. I've given every title its own section, though the unreleased titles had to share one as there wasn't much to write about two of them... maybe one day, we'll get more info!
I've tried to fit as much as I could on this website, and I bet there'll be at least one thing you'll learn about these games. I do hope you enjoy browsing through its shelves.
A Backstory
I was a dumb kid during 2008 YouTube, and I loved watching funny meme videos. Naturally, I came into contact with YouTube Poops and fell in love with them. I was particularly drawn to the CD-i Zelda YTPs - there was something fascinating about these Zelda games with weird cutscenes, and how random people across the Internet were making its characters go on profane and silly adventures. Naturally, I tried my hand at making my very own CD-i Zelda YouTube Poops, but they were never good... I only had access to Windows Movie Maker, as did most back then LOL
YouTube Poops may have died off a bit after its golden age, but I never lost my interest in them. I joined YouChew back when that was still a thing and continued my appreciation for this strange Internet artform. Having recently acquired Game Maker and RPG Maker VX Ace, I wanted to make video games based off of YouTube Poops, especially those with story elements. Those games were definitely experiments in game tone and artificial length, but I still had a lot of fun making them and writing their stories. Sadly, I stopped working on them as my interest in their development waned over time...
Around the time of The YouTube Poop World, I started a Tumblr blog dedicated to corruptions of Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. This phase of my life lasted about three years before I really, REALLY got into the CD-i Nintendo games. I had recently played TFoE and TWoG in a CD-i emulator, and quite enjoyed the experience in spite of what most thought of them. I got to work ripping both of the games' assets in a horrible Herculean task that should've been faster due to me forgetting about the emulator's green-screen option. Damn. Even then, I completed this task and became the first person to provide a FULL rip of the Animation Magic Zelda games' assets. and eventually posted these to the Spriters' Resource.
Time goes on, and I get contacted by Dopply about helping him with his CD-i Zelda fan remasters. I had previously done this back on YouChew, but it didn't go far due to varying factors. Now, I had enough playtime under my belt to help Dopply refine the remasters and obtain any assets that were needed. After some time in development, both remasters were released to the public's... I'll say delight and surprise. I was credit, but under the name "Pyro Demon" as I was unsure about how Nintendo would react to these fan projects. Turns out, they haven't taken down any of the reuploads as of writing, so... make of that what you will.
This newfound respect for Animation Magic's Zelda games only served to fuel my fascination with those games. As a result, I expanded my knowledge of the CD-i Nintendo games and focused my efforts on Hotel Mario, Zelda's Adventure, and those unreleased titles. This is what resulted in that guide for ZA and the Food Dude easter egg being found. I also dipped my toes into other related games and, as a result, created an entire fan remake of I.M. Meen. It happens to the best of us. And one day, I realized that the Tumblr blog (the one I abandoned the original concept of) ain't gonna stick around forever.
So...
This backup website was built. That's pretty much it in terms of my story... at least for now.
